World Book Day 2022

It has been an amazing World Book Day at Carterhatch Junior School.  The theme this year was 'You are a Reader'.   The children looked amazing in their costumes.

As well as an assembly with the author Sita Brahmachari where she told the children about her writing journey from childhood to adulthood, the children celebrated the day with a range of activities in their classes – art, poetry, planting sunflower seeds, creating comic strips based on a character from their library book and writing interviews.

Thank you for all your support in making the day special.  Staff looked fabulous dressed up in an array of characters.

"It has been a great day.  I really enjoyed dressing up as my character Petra because she is really brave and wants to make changes.  In World Book Day, we get to discover new books and authors which inspire you." - Alice

"I enjoyed the assembly because I could see everyone’s costumes and the author was very funny. I also loved that I could get my book signed by her and watch her cut the ribbon for our new library." - Mila

"I really enjoyed the assembly especially when I was on stage.  When I put Sita’s shell to my ear, it felt like I was in a magical world." - Samir

"World Book Day is fun because we get to dress up as a special character from a book. I enjoyed the assembly because we got to meet a real-life author." - Kevin
